I keep bitching about being up screen’s arses or vice versa. Today was a better day and I’ll be damned if I can’t be grateful to myself for it. I watched just enough TV and I stopped after it. I’m keeping my scrolling under control, as far as scrolling goes, whatever that means.
I’ll try to be specific.
I had the urge to buy a NYT subscription because it’s running so cheap, thanks to the mid-terms offer. I decided that I didn’t have the time for it and it’s largely off my mind. I think I saved myself many hours and days over the next few months by choosing not to imbibe. The compulsive Crosswords and wordles and connections and spelling bees and the minis and the midis. It helped that I don’t look at NYT in all that positive light anymore.
Then, techcrunch and hackernews. The app I made for myself to keep it off has been helping. Of course, it’s just day 2. Bound to work. I could put distractions on block on my laptop.
Then, the TV series. After the episode was over, instead of watching another or picking up something else, I realised that I was in a heightened energy level and had to consciously cool down, or I’ll find myself running headfirst down a spiral at 1 in the night.
Then, the Kindle book and the cleanup and everything. Awareness helps. Timers and alarms help with awareness.
