How English speaking skill correlates to engineering output

Karpathy said it and we all applauded. We didn’t think of all the ways it would play out. Especially in a country like India where we manage to get by with just enough English, but not too much.

I see a clear difference in the output of developers who speak good English vs the ones who don’t. This probably requires a baseline below which it might not work.

Above this competence baseline, though, correlation is really strong.

It’s obviously because you’re able to communicate well with the machine. You’re able to hold a proper conversation. Understand what the machine means when it comes back to you with questions. Read through its responses.

I wonder if it’s actually reading ability and not necessary ‘English’ as a whole which is the factor here.

If it resonated, you know what to do.
